Average no better or worse than any other average apartment complex
love the apartments...only problem is unsupervised children in common areas and pool. staff and buildings are great.
Aside from noisy, unsupervised kids and noisy upstairs neighbors, it's overall pretty good as apartment complexes go. The management is better than it is at most other properties, and will always try to correct problems that arise.
i have never had any issues at Montelena
Fine most of the time; lots of noisy, unsupervised children violating rules whose parents do not care. Hopefully you won't have a toddler living above you like we do.
Awesome - neighbors are friendly, anemities are great and the rent is reasonable. My children and I are pleased with all Montelena has to offer. This truly is a great place to live!
I have no complaints. But I'm mostly indoors and don't get to the activities the group has.
I definitely reccommed living at Montelena. The building I live in is quite, peaceful, neighbors are friendly, can't complain.
Im impressed with the staff. They are nice and courteous. The grounds are always neat and beautiful. The lighting around the parking areas are horrible. its unsafe at night when its dark. Amber lights should not be used when the entire atmosphere area is dark. It can lead to more auto break-ins and potential assaults
This is a very clean community. The Office Administrators are very helpful and friendly. The best criteria that I found are the neighbors. During my first 3 days of moving in,several of the neighbors and kids approached me with a friendly, welcoming greeting. You should really give this community a serious consideration, you won't regret it.
I really did not want to live in an apartment. I spent most of my childhood in some apartment or another, but when I came to look at Montelena at the recommendation of a friend, I was immediately sold. Here are some reasons: 1) the complex itself is generally very well-kept. When you first walk into the leasing office and clubhouse, you will notice how immaculate it is. I know it's easy to maintain a nice office/clubhouse and then have the rest of the complex be trashy, but that's not the case here. Landscapers come around a couple times a month to keep the shrubs and grass looking good. The only problem we've encountered is people not bothering to put their trash in the dumpster, and leaving it outside the dumpster instead. My husband has spent time throwing peoples' trash away a few times. BUT, to Montelena's credit, they are actively working to catch people who do this. 2) Interiors are as well-kept as the exterior. When we moved in and I did the pre-move-in checklist, this place was in amazingly excellent condition. We have laminate wood flooring in our unit, which is something you pay more to have in your unit, but I love it and it's beautiful.. The paint color on the interior of the units is a nice neutral color that goes with most decors. The appliances, while not brand new, are in good condition. I asked my husband what he would say about our apartment and he said, "this is the nicest apartment I've ever lived in!" We fully intend to stay here a few more years until we're ready to purchase a house. 3) NO COCKROACHES. The place we lived before was a hot bed of those nasty things. Since moving to Montelena, I have not seen a single one. They spray buildings for bugs on a rotating basis, so your building gets treated once a month, I believe. But if you see so much as a single spider, you can call the office and they will send someone to treat the interior of your unit. Seriously you guys-no cockroaches at all. We had a few random ants coming into my son's bedroom once, and the pest control guy came out and that was the end of it. No more ants. 4) The staff of the complex genuinely try to put on events that interest the tenants. They have early morning drive-thru breakfasts, where you drive up on your way out of the complex and they serve you up some food on your way to work or school, they hold after-school movies for kids, parties for holidays, community yard sales, early bird drawings for paying your rent before the first (winner of the drawing gets $100 off the next month's rent), coloring contests for the kids, you name it. 5) Parking is never a problem. Another complex I looked at before signing with Montelena could only promise me one parking spot. "Oh, but you can park out on the street, it's not too far away," was not good enough! Montelena does not have assigned parking spots, BUT there are ample spots. We have two cars and have never, ever not been able to park right in front of our unit. In the interest of full disclosure, there have been a few car break-ins since we moved in six months ago. Someone tried to pry open the window to our car one night, and a neighbor's car window was broken. These things are somewhat to be expected in apartment complexes, though. What counts the most is what management does about it. Montelena immediately notified all tenants with a letter on our door, warning us to be vigilant and not leave any valuables in the car, and I saw police patrolling here periodically, as well. There have been no problems since. 6) The pool and fitness center are both well-maintained. Sure, they are not as flashy as some complexes, but they're nice. We have two sons, and we spent many fun afternoons in the pool this past summer. I LOVE the beach entrance; it's great for my sons, as they haven't learned to swim yet. 7) Another reviewer mentioned bratty kids running around. You will periodically encounter kids who should probably be supervised but aren't, which has been a typical apartment life experience for me anywhere I've lived. I have full confidence that the staff would do something about the kids if they were to become unruly, though. My sons and I are out and about a lot, roaming the complex on walks or bike rides, and while we have encountered kids who might LOOK like they are hoodlums or riffraff, they have never been anything but polite to us. The complex staff definitely enforces the rules when they see them being broken-I've witnessed it myself when my sons and I have been in the clubhouse to watch a movie in their awesome movie theater room (see #8). Some kids were in there unsupervised, and a staff member told them to go home and reminded them of the rules. I think the kids respect the staff because they're nice, but don't mess around with enforcing rules. 8) Did I mention the awesome movie theater room? It has maybe 15 or so seats and a big screen mounted on the wall. You can watch regular television in there, or bring your own DVD. It's an underutilized feature of the complex. If you move here, definitely check it out. Ok, y'all are going to start thinking I work for Montelena if I keep going any longer. I just wanted to write a positive review, because it seems like all you ever see for reviews are negative. (or written by employees, right?) Montelena is definitely a good place to live. The individual units and beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the price is right.
Been here almost 3 years; like it okay. Noisy children running through breezeways is a frequent problem. In fact, unsupervised and obnoxious children are behind most of the problems here.
Since I've been here, I do hear my neighbors through the wall as though they are banging on them during the night, and talking loudly at night outside while trying to sleep but other than that the property managements proffessionalism is great. Though I do wish that I could have control over the lighting on the porch/or balcony.
Overall, a very nice place to live. Rent is very reasonable and the staff has always been friendly and profesional toward me. The fitness center could use some additional equipment and upgrades.
Overall a great place to live, I haven't had any trouble with these apartments or my neighbors besides my upstairs neighbors, but you cant avoid that no matter what apartments you live in.
